Responsible Research Metrics Self-Study Module

Welcome to this self-study module

This self-study module covers the core principles of responsible research metrics and can be completed in your own time.

This module is designed for:

  • Anyone who is interested in how research is measured and assessed;
  • Anyone involved in recruitment, reward and recognition processes or grant applications where research may be used as an assessment tool.

Everyone should complete Sections 1, 2, and 3. Section 4 is for those who are involved in recruitment, reward and recognition processes, or grant applications as an assessor of people. Section 5 contextualizes this information within the United Kingdom's Research Excellence Framework (REF), and discusses how research metrics may be relevant for REF2029.
